About This Role
The Animal Caretaker provides daily, hands-on care for Cedar Springs’ animals throughout the year. This part-time role is responsible for feeding, cleaning enclosures, monitoring animal health, and keeping animal areas safe and well maintained. It’s a physically active position that requires consistency, attention to detail, and comfort working outdoors in all seasons. No advanced experience is required — just reliability, a willingness to learn, and a genuine care for animals.
What You’ll Do
- Feed animals daily according to established schedules and care instructions
- Clean and maintain barns, enclosures, and animal habitats
- Monitor animals for changes in behavior or health and report concerns promptly
- Keep feed, tools, and storage areas organized and well stocked
- Assist with basic animal handling and support during occasional programs or guest activities
What We’re Looking For
- Dependable and able to follow daily routines without constant supervision
- Comfortable working outdoors year-round in a variety of weather conditions
- Physically able to lift feed bags, clean enclosures, and stay active throughout a shift
- Observant and willing to communicate concerns quickly and clearly
- Comfortable around animals of different sizes and temperaments, with a willingness to learn proper handling procedures
