Program Details

At Cedar Springs, we take great care in planning every aspect of your experience. Before campers arrive, our team has already made all the necessary arrangements with teachers, from assigning cabins to finalizing schedules, ensuring a smooth and well-organized experience.. Every cabin is led by a trained chaperone provided by your school who supports students with day-to-day needs, encourages group living skills, and assists with lessons throughout the week. Our experienced staff lead engaging, hands-on classes that bring learning to life, helping campers connect with the material in a unique and meaningful way.  From planning to departure, our dedicated staff handle every detail, allowing educators to focus on connecting with their students and immersing themselves in the outdoor experience.

Northwest Wildlife: 5-LS2-1, 4-LS1-1, Since Time Immemorial 

Students will explore the amazing animals that call the Pacific Northwest home. Through hands-on activities, they’ll learn to recognize different species by their unique features and uncover how these creatures interact with their environment. This engaging experience encourages curiosity about the natural world and the connections between wildlife, people, and the land we share.

Stream Life: 5-PS1-1, 5-PS3-1, 5-LS1-1, MS-LS1-6

Students will dive into the world of freshwater ecosystems, discovering what makes a stream healthy. Through hands-on exploration, they’ll investigate aquatic life, test water quality, and uncover the key factors that support a thriving habitat. This interactive experience fosters curiosity about the delicate balance of nature and the importance of clean waterways.

Early Logging: 5-ESS3-1, Tribal Sovereignty

Students will journey into the past to experience the world of early loggers. Using traditional hand tools, they’ll get a feel for the skills and challenges of the trade. Along the way, they’ll explore the impact of logging on the environment, sustainability practices, and the complex relationship between natural resources, Native Tribes, and historical change. This engaging session encourages critical thinking about the past and its influence on the present.

Wetlands: 5-LS2-1, 5-ESS2-1, 4-ESS2-1

Students will discover the unique role wetlands play in keeping our environment healthy. Through hands-on exploration, they’ll learn how these ecosystems filter water, support wildlife, and impact our daily lives. By building their own model wetland, students will see firsthand how nature cleans water—and what challenges it faces. This interactive experience highlights the importance of wetlands and their connection to the world around us.

Forest Ecology: 5-PS3-1, 5-LS2-1

Discover the hidden systems that keep Pacific Northwest forests thriving! Through hands-on exploration and interactive games, students will learn how producers, consumers, and decomposers work together to cycle energy and sustain life in our local forest ecosystem. From towering evergreens to the smallest decomposers, every participant will experience the vital roles that make our temperate forests flourish.

Archery: SEL

A camp favorite! Students will learn the fundamentals of Olympic-style target archery, including proper technique, safety, and equipment basics. With hands-on instruction, they’ll get the chance to take aim, release arrows, and improve their skills on the range. Whether it’s their first time or they’re refining their shot, this class offers a fun and engaging introduction to the sport of archery.

Fire Safety: SEL

One of the most essential outdoor skills, fire safety is both an art and a science. Students will learn the basics of fire safety, the fire triangle, and different techniques for starting and extinguishing a fire. From primitive methods to modern tools, they’ll explore various fire lays and put their skills to the test by building their own campfire. This hands-on experience teaches both responsibility and self-reliance in the great outdoors

Rock Wall: SEL

Students will learn the fundamentals of rock climbing, from safety equipment and climbing commands to essential techniques. After gaining confidence on the ground, they’ll take on our 22-foot indoor climbing wall, choosing from a variety of routes designed for all skill levels. Whether they’re beginners or experienced climbers, this class offers a fun and rewarding challenge that builds confidence and teamwork.

Shelter Building: 3-5-ETS1-1

Students will explore the importance of shelter in survival situations, learning how location, structure, and insulation can make all the difference. Working in teams, they’ll gather natural materials and put their skills to the test by building their own survival shelter. This hands-on challenge fosters teamwork, problem-solving, and a deeper appreciation for the great outdoors.

Survival: 3-5-ETS1-1

Students will explore the four laws of survival, learn what to do if they get lost, and discover the importance of preparation. Using their new knowledge, they’ll work in teams to develop an action plan for a survival scenario, putting problem-solving and critical thinking to the test. This class builds confidence, awareness, and practical skills for the outdoors.

Team Works: SEL

Through hands-on challenges, students will discover how individual strengths contribute to group success. This class fosters teamwork, communication, and problem-solving—skills that extend far beyond the outdoors. Time and again, we've seen its impact on self-confidence, social interactions, and even conflict resolution. A powerful experience that helps students grow both as individuals and as part of a team.

Locations

Cedar Springs Camp is proud to serve families from two beautiful locations in Washington. Our main campus in Lake Stevens hosts day camps, special events, and family programs, while our Lost Creek campus near Yakima offers traditional overnight camps and retreats.

The Facilities

Our campus can sleep groups from 20 - 350 in size, and host day guests even larger in size. We can help you determine the right facilities to utilize, based on our group size and desired activities.

    Everything is well organized, classes are run well and the instructors are really great with the kids!
